Booji

Experimental

Describing themselves as 'distortion indie', Booji (波激小丝) is a band from Shanghai.

Boojii is formed around 2004 in Shanghai. In 2009, they published their first album "reserved" under Modernsky Records. Since then, members are 33, Han Han, Sun Ye and Da Men. They prefer to use elements from art-rock, post-rock and experimental-rock to build their own musical world. Boojii's sound is hard to be tagged into a specific genre, and their influences varied from 80's Chinese pop to bands like Pram, Tangerine Dream, even some classical music. However, the inner consistency of their songs are comparatively distinct, which is like a twisted cult dream mainly constructed by the singer, 33. They prefer to illustrate, rather than perform, some mysterious yet sensitive dark images using their instruments.
