Why: Despite the big gig this week being St. Vincent, I have to admit that after last week’s ticket price I could not justify another night out like that, so for my own wallet I’m picking the mid-priced gig. However, that doesn’t mean that this gig is second-rate, by any means. Bigger Bang is another one of those “to watch” groups I have been itching to see, and Alt Senior has always intrigued me. I’m not as excited for The Reason (“post-hardcore emocore” doesn’t sound like my thing…), but Black Town Twins Brother could be good (even though they say “psychedelic folk”, it reminds me of blues rock) and Sparrow should be interesting, if a little instrumental. As for the headliners, Tookoo… well, they’re bringing out Sun Lisheng, the lead singer from SuperVC (probably my favorite Chinese band), as a guest, probably to do a few songs together. That’s definitely incentive for me.
Runner up is: As mentioned, St. Vincent is going to be an amazing gig for the JUE festival, with guest Antya Zhang, 9PM Fri @ Yugong Yishan, 120RMB.
