Why: This is the first gig I’ve come across with Ourself Beside Me since I heard about them last year. They’re reportedly one of China’s best girl punk acts, rising from the ashes of Hang on the Box, one of Beijing’s most celebrated girl punk groups. Alongside Hedgehog/B-Side Lovers (whatever they’re calling themselves these days), those two acts alone are worth the ticket price. Fat City is an experimental noise group that seems to do really nice quiet songs but really noisy loud ones, and The Molds are a Britrock-style group with a sound reminiscent of Pavement and the like.
No runner-up gigs this week as things are still quiet for the month.
