Why: Again with the wonderful lineups! I… don’t even know where to begin. Careless, I’ve half-seen at Dos Kolegas, and they do some great, noisy Britrock. Lei & 11 I’ve been waiting to see — I’ve had a couple of his singles on my playlists for a while and he’s got that mellow pop-rock sound I love. DH & Chinese Hellcats is a band I’ve recommended many times; a fun jazz-swing group that will get anyone on the dance floor. Nancheng Brother is a band I’ve also wanted to see since reading this article in NeoCHA EDGE; they’re a fusion band that really seems to has their traditional and their modern down. PB33 and Silent G are unknowns to me, but they’re all over the place these days; we’ll see how they fare.
And if you can’t make it out on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day (don’t worry; the gigs on the day don’t look spectacular), there’s a great gig on the Sunday after Christmas at Mao Livehouse as well. Entitled “The Garage Fucking Roll Part Ⅱ”, you’ll get a bunch of Beijing’s rawest Britrock artists undoubtedly coming down from their own celebrations — Lazy Camels, Old Fashion, Candy Monster, Careless, and Double Harvestman. 40RMB; 8.30PM.
